Emotion Focused Therapy

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is based on the understanding that emotions carry important information about our experiences, needs and relationships.

Rather than simply trying to control or reduce difficult emotions, EFT helps people understand, experience and work through them. Therapy may involve slowing down emotional experiences, exploring what lies beneath immediate reactions, working with self-criticism, and understanding emotions connected to earlier experiences.

EFT can be particularly helpful for people who understand their difficulties intellectually but find that insight alone hasn't changed how they feel.

The goal is not to become less emotional, but to develop a healthier and more flexible relationship with your emotional experience.
